Steatment on Gender Equality

In support of Article 100 of the Constitution and Point 1, Article 10, of Law no. 9970, dated 24.7.2008, "On gender equality in society", the Albanian Academic Network approved the national strategy for gender equality, 2021-2030, and its action plan.

January 28 is Personal Data Protection Day and in the world it is known as Privacy Day.

January 28 coincides with the adoption in 1981 by the Council of Europe of Convention 108 "For the protection of individuals with regard to the automatic processing of personal data". Our country has included this document in the national legislation with the approval of law no. 9288/2004. The Convention was modernized in May 2018 (Convention 108+) with the approval of CETS Protocol No. 223, which was signed on January 28, 2022 also by Albania and has become part of the legislation through Law 49/2022.

Recognizing, raising awareness and overall promotion of the basic rights and freedoms of the individual is one of the main tasks of public authorities for strengthening civic awareness. A healthy democratic society cannot be understood without a continuous educational process for the cultivation of culture in the practical exercise of these rights. In this context, and especially considering technological progress and digitalization, the protection of personal data is very important and fundamental to the sustainable development of the economy.

The Office of the Commissioner for the Right to Information and Personal Data Protection, within the framework of the Personal Data Protection Week activities and in the public interest, has prepared an awareness electronic poster.

For this purpose, the Commissioner's Office requests cooperation for its publication/placement on the official websites of the public authority/controller you represent, in the capacity of "data protection officer" (DPO), in the time interval January 27-29 2023, for increasing citizens' knowledge on the exercise of this fundamental constitutional right.
